Spiderwort 'Sweet Kate' is a wonderful perennial with brilliant golden foliage. The clump is in summer highlighted with a procession of deep blue flowers that last from late spring until fall. It was discovered in the garden of Mrs. Stevens of Rusthall, Kent, and named after her blond-haired daughter, Kate Stevens. Each plant of Tradescantia 'Sweet Kate' is a true masterpiece! ‘Spiderwort Sweet Kate usually develops best yellow foliage color in full sun. Tradescantia Sweet Kate is best grown in a partly shady site to prevent leaf burn. This one is not a fast spreader, perhaps due to its lack of chlorophyll. It stays a tiny clump that slowly expands from year to year.
