Paeonia tenuifolia is a rare perennial native to the Caucasus Mountains of Russia, as well as areas in Ukraine north of the Black Sea. But cn be occasionaly found also in Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and in northwestern Kazakhstan. The leaves are very fine, horsetail-like and grow close together on the stems. This peony can reach between 30 and 60 centimeters in height. The flowers are red and scented with numerous yellow stamens in the centre. Very rare plant suitable also for rock garden.
