Bohemia Hosta

Bohemia hostas were developed by the well-known Czech collector and hosta expert Vladimír Mirka from Kladno, Czech Republic. Vladimír has been an enthusiastic amateur gardener for over 55 years, and since 2005, he has been focusing intensively on hostas. His collection includes more than 1,300 different cultivars of these beloved perennials.

He breeds and tests his hostas in his own garden, carefully selecting only the most interesting and vigorous specimens. The highest quality cultivars are then named and registered with the American Hosta Society (AHS). He chose the name Bohemia for his introductions to highlight their origin in the heart of Europe – the Bohemia region, known for its rich horticultural tradition.

His breeding program focuses primarily on variegated hostas, as well as cultivars with contrasting bicolored leaves. Bohemia hostas are known for their vitality, strong growth, and abundant flowering under Central European conditions, where they perform excellently in regular garden settings.
