Hemerocallis 'Jerry Hyatt' is a captivating daylily that combines elegance and charm in every bloom. This tetraploid cultivar, hybridized by C. Hanson in 2004, has earned accolades such as the Honorable Mention (2007) and the Award of Merit (2012) for its exceptional qualities.
The 15 cm blooms feature a soft lilac orchid blend, highlighted by a violet slate watermark bordered with deep violet. At its heart lies a striking chartreuse throat, making this variety a standout in any garden. Its semi-evergreen foliage and fragrance add further appeal, making it not just a feast for the eyes but also for the senses.
With a medium height scape of 70 cm, 'Jerry Hyatt' is ideal for borders, perennial beds, or as a focal point in mixed plantings. This early midseason bloomer thrives in full sun to partial shade, showcasing its vibrant flowers during the peak garden season. As a pod and pollen fertile cultivar, it is also a valuable asset for breeders.
Add Hemerocallis 'Jerry Hyatt' to your collection for its unmatched beauty, delightful fragrance, and award-winning pedigree.
How to grow daylilies
Reserve full sunlight or light shade area in your garden to plant daylilies. Daylilies like sunshine so much but be careful, in hot areas, they do not grow well in completely dry soil on sunny place. Daylilies also like an average amount of moisture in the soil but will not be happy in soils that are water logged. Give them water regularly during their first one or two growing seasons. Their flowers will be larger and will bloom richer if regularly watered in the first part of the season.
When in bloom, feel free to cut the flowers for bouquets or even decorating of salads (as the flowers are edible). This will not injure your plants. While each flower blooms only a single day, choose stems with several larger buds.
After blooming has finished, leave the foliage in place, don't cut it off. The leaves will gather sunlight and will provide nourishment for the next year's show. Your daylilies will need rest for a few months, before beginning the next growing season.
