Delosperma Thabana

Delosperma Thabana comes from the top of the hill Thabana Ntlenyana (3482 m. M). It is very similar to the cultivar Delosperma 'Gold Nugget', but the flowers are larger. The flowering is rich in the spring period, but it is also rich in the second half of the summer. Frost -20 ° C survive the plants without any problems. Its frost resistance can be up to -30 °C.

These rock garden plants are native to South Africa. In European condition cultivated species comes from the elevation 2500 to 3300 meters. They need extremely permeable substrate. The soil should be sandy and rocky, with good drainage on the surface created with small stones. Rapid drainage of water is particularly important in winter because the plants usually do not freeze but they can decline due to water logging. Habitat should be fully sunny, because the flowers are open only in a direct sunlight. They are very suitable especially for rock gardens, but also can be used in cemeteries, in containers or on balconies and terraces.
